Annual Baypines District Conference
Our Annual District Conference will be held Sunday, January 27, 2019 at FUMC Atmore from 3-5pm.  Please mark your calendars, advertise in your church bulletins and your newsletters.  Listed below is the schedule and break-out sessions.

Our topics for Breakout Sessions include:

1. Rev. Alecia Glaize, District Missioner, Baypines District of The Alabama-West Florida Conference

Session: Creating an Outward Focused Church – Practical Ways to Move a Congregation to an “Outward” View of Church to Better Reach Those Outside the Church Walls.

2. Dr. Darren McClellan, District Superintendent, Baypines District of The Alabama-West Florida Conference 

Session: Staff – Parish Relations - Connecting the Pastor, Staff, and Congregation.

3. Rev. Jeremy Steele, Teaching Pastor, Christ United Methodist Church, Mobile, AL                                   

Session: Empowering Volunteers - Strategies for Building Effective Youth Ministry Teams and Programming.

The Baypines District Committee on Nominations and Leadership Development.

The Baypines District Committee on Nominations and Leadership Development will have a meeting on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at 10:00 am at the Baypines District Office in Bay Minette.                                                                 

Winter Concert Season at GSUMC Begins January 11th with Cody & Friends

An all-time local favorite, Cody & Friends, opens the popular winter concert season on Friday January 11 at 7pm in the sanctuary of Gulf Shores United Methodist Church.  Tickets at $10 per person are now available from 9am to noon at Thee Coffee Shop in the GSUMC South Plaza Campus and also on Tuesdays in the GSUMC auditorium at Snowbird Coffee.         

Additional January concerts include Three on a String on Friday, January 18, the Elvis Gospel Show on Monday, January 21, Monroe Crossing on Friday, January 25, and Cody and Friends Jr. on Saturday, January 26.  All shows are at 7pm in the GSUMC sanctuary with tickets at $10 per person with the exception of the Elvis Gospel Show with tickets at $15 per person. 2019 Blue Lake Elementary Winter Retreat for Grades 3-5* February 1-3, 2019 

January 18 is the final day to register for this year's Elementary Winter Retreat! Students in 3rd-5th grades are invited to attend and will enjoy winter fun, worship and spiritual growth. The theme is, "I am with you always" based on Matthew 28:20.

Save the Date - Post General Conference Meeting

Please save the date for a post 2019 general conference regional meeting in your area. Bishop David Graves and AWF conference leadership are inviting all clergy and laity to join them for an overview of the called session which will include a question and answer time. The dates and locations are below.

Thursday, March 7, 2019, at Montgomery FUMC
Saturday, March 9, 2019, at Covenant UMC in Dothan, AL
Sunday, March 10 2019, at Christ UMC in Mobile, AL

There will also be a clergy gathering on Monday, March 11, 2018, at Christ UMC in Mobile, AL, from 10am-2pm.

OPPORTUNITIES IN THE BAYPINES DISTRICT:

FUMC Andalusia seeking a full time Youth Director.  If you are interested, please call 334-222-5018 or email at firstumc@andalusia-umc.com 

FUMC Atmore is seeking a creative, energetic, self-starter to offer leadership to the church’s Mid-High and Senior High Youth Fellowship. The church is a growing and vital congregation that values competent and faithful leadership. Highly qualified candidates will display responsive and inspirational leadership skills, as well as strong communication skills. Applicants should also be at ease with sharing their story of faith and helping the youth learn to share theirs. Additionally, she or he should be prepared to generate content for communicating with the youth, their parents, and the church through a variety of media. The Youth Director will be responsible for planning and overseeing weekly meetings on Wednesday evenings. Planning and overseeing monthly outings and activities as well as regular monthly Youth Council meetings. Additionally, the Youth Director should be available for Sunday Morning activities including Sunday School. The position is designed to be part-time. High School Diploma or equivalent is required. HURRICANE RECOVERY
The Alabama-West Florida Conference continues to walk alongside those in the panhandle after Hurricane Michael. The recovery process will be a long-term effort that the United Methodist Church is committed to leading. A dedicated Web address, www.hurricanemichaelrecovery.org was established to better organize rapidly changing information. We continue to request monetary donations be sent to the Alabama-West Florida Conference so that we may quickly disperse funds as needed.
