Baypines United Methodist Women will hold a Mission Study in Andalusia FUMC on September 22, 2018. The study is a Spiritual Growth Study and is titled Embracing Wholeness by Jessica Stonecypher. This study calls us to live in covenantal relationships with all of creation and challenges us to work toward stronger and healthier relationships with creation, our community, ourselves and with God. Ms Debbie Bracewell, President of the Dothan UMW District has graciously accepted to lead the study for the Baypines Units near Andalusia. She is an active member of Enterprise First United Methodist Church and serves as president of their United Methodist Women. She enjoys teaching Mission Studies whenever ask. She has asked that each of us bring a small amount of soil, from your home, in a plastic bag. All interested are invited to join us for this study. We will gather at 9:30, at Andalusia, First UMC for the study. Please bring a sandwich for your lunch, the UMW members will provide snacks, drinks and desert. The study is a four hour study and we will be on our way home by 2:00. Gulf Shores Wedding Chapel will be serving a special gourmet buffet brunch on Sunday, September 23, 2018 as a fundraiser supporting the Gulf Shores United Methodist Church Chancel Choir’s visit in November to New York City to sing at the famed Carnegie Hall. The entire proceeds from this event go towards the Carnegie trip. The brunch will include many tasty items for which the Wedding Chapel is noted. Entertainment will be provided by Andi and Chris Carstens and Lisa Christian playing folk and bluegrass music. There will be two seatings, the first at 10:30 am and the second at 12 noon. Tickets are $25 per person and may be purchased through the GSUMC Office at 1900 Gulf Shores Parkway. Tickets are limited. Gulf Shores UMC presents themes from ‘Smokey Joe’s Café’ and ‘The Wizard of Oz’ that will set toes tapping at the annual fall ‘Evening of Broadway and More’ concert by the Chancel Choir at Gulf Shores United Methodist Church Sunday, September 30, 2018 at 7:00 pm in the church sanctuary. The program includes a live band with percussion, bass, guitar and keyboards. Jackie Dahlman will accompany the choir and soloists, including local favorite Marsha Guyer and others. Guest piano soloist will be Greg Engell, music director at First Baptist Church in Foley. There is no charge for the ‘An Evening of Broadway and More’ concert according to Cody Johnson. However a love offering of $10 per person to support the Carnegie Hall trip is suggested. Reserved seating will be available for concert season supporters. Sweet Homes for Alabama- a.k.a No More "Shacks" Campaign will be October 10-16, 2018. ARM staff members, pastors, and community leaders will be living in shacks at Auburn's Wesley Foundation to eliminate substandard housing in Alabama. You can help! This is the 11th Anniversary of ARM's Sweet Homes Campaign and we have set a goal to raise $100,000 to eliminate poverty housing in Alabama. This will repair 20 homes at $5000. FUMC Atmore is seeking a creative, energetic, self-starter to offer leadership to the church’s Mid-High and Senior High Youth Fellowship. The church is a growing and vital congregation that values competent and faithful leadership. Highly qualified candidates will display responsive and inspirational leadership skills, as well as strong communication skills. Applicants should also be at ease with sharing their story of faith and helping the youth learn to share theirs. Additionally, she or he should be prepared to generate content for communicating with the youth, their parents, and the church through a variety of media. The Youth Director will be responsible for planning and overseeing weekly meetings on Wednesday evenings. Planning and overseeing monthly outings and activities as well as regular monthly Youth Council meetings. Additionally, the Youth Director should be available for Sunday Morning activities including Sunday School. The position is designed to be part-time. High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
